GERMAINE

Combining song and jig, the quintet revisits a mostly Quebecois repertoire while exploring the richness of traditional texts. Germaine highlights the diversity of female figures, underlining the strength of character and resilience of women from the past, seeking to resonate their voices in today's context.

The violin, bodhran, jig, and podorythmie accompany these melodies, allowing us to discover their performers and their sometimes more personal interpretation of the texts from our French-Canadian heritage songs.

Founded in 2017 by three current members and renamed Germaine in 2018, the project is now led by five passionate women based in Montreal and Rimouski: Myrianne Cardin-Houde, Rachel Carignan, Florence Mailhot-Léonard, Mélina Mauger-Lavigne, and Patricia Ho-Yi Wang.

On-site catering and bar service available.
