Basket making workshop with Stephen Jerome

Stephen Jerome offers you the opportunity to learn the basic techniques for making a round basket: making a bottom, stitching the uprights, mounting the fence, making the border and adding the handle if time permits. Stephen Jerome will guide you in the design of these pieces so that each participant leaves with a basket made by their hands.

In his workshop in Gesgapegiag, Stephen Jerome continues to make traditional Mi’kmaq baskets. This artistic knowledge has been passed down from father to son for several generations. Unfortunately this ancestral know-how is threatened.
